Gravel and Aggregates

Golden gravel is sourced from a quarry near Bournemouth.

We supply 20mm golden gravel.  It has proven to be a more popular product than the smaller 10mm size.

Mountsorrel granite is also in 20mm size.

Both these products are very popular for low maintenance gardens and can assist with conserving water in planting schemes.

The products are supplied in standard size builders bags, and are approx. 920kg in weight..

Please note, the weights offered by other companies when comparing quotations.  Weights quoted can vary considerably.  Sometimes by up to as much as 25% less a bag.

Recommend 2-3 inches (50-75 mm) on borders.  On driveways, 1-2 inches (25-50mm), on top of prepared road stone base.  We also recommend the use of a weed membrane for borders, which we don’t supply. 

Calculation for depths
Depth (mm) divide by 1000 times m2 needed times by 1.572 = tons
25mm = 1 inch

Eg
A border of 10m by 2m to be covered at 2ins depth.
2 times 25 = 50mm, divide by 1000, times by 20 (10 x 2) x 1.572 = 1.57 ton.
Therefore, it would be advisable to order 2 bags.
